Welcome to the Dyslexia Research Registry!
What is Dyslexia?
Individuals with reading difficulties vary dramatically in degree of severity. Approximately 5% of children with reading disabilities do not respond adequately to the best available instruction. In spite of adequate vocabulary knowledge and general intelligence, they continue to struggle with sight word reading, word reading fluency, and reading comprehension. Often there is a family history of learning difficulties. It is these individuals with severe dyslexia that the Dyslexia Research Registry wishes to serve.
Why Research?
Many advances in medicine and education have resulted from research involving the collection and analysis of medical and educational information of people with a certain condition. Some results of research have been more effective treatments, prevention, diagnosis, screening and quality of life assistance for individuals with these conditions.
What Does the Registry Do?
The primary purpose of the Dyslexia Research Registry is to facilitate research in the understanding of dyslexia. It collects information from people with dyslexia and matches them up with National Institutes of Health Learning Disabilities Center researchers who are looking for individuals to participate in their studies.
The secondary purpose of this project is to provide families with resources and referrals to meet the needs of students who have dyslexia.
We are inviting families of children who have severe dyslexia to join the Dyslexia Research Registry today!
